Buffet Tip: How to Outeat Everyone

There’s nothing absolutely quite like an American all-you-can-eat buffet. The Wynn Buffet, for example, features 90 dishes and 16 live food stations. You can feast your eyes on the most delectable entrees and mouth-watering desserts. But unless you know exactly what you’re doing, you’ll end up eating way less food than what you paid for. So, if you want to know how to dominate a buffet, here are some tips to remember:

1. Don’t come starving.

Don’t starve yourself going to a buffet because you will want to fill up your plate with as much food as you can carry and end up with a stomach cramp. Eat a light meal a few hours before going like a bowl of cereal or yogurt.

2. Hydrate yourself.

If you’re going to eat lunch in a buffet, prepare your stomach by drinking water all throughout the day the day before so your stomach can fully stretch which will then enable you to eat more.

3. Know what dishes to prioritize.

Don’t go straight for big-ticket items. Start with a soup or a salad. Doing so will make it easier for your body to process food at the onset.

4. Pace yourself.

Shoveling food into your mouth as quickly as you can is a bad idea. It’ll make you full faster and you’ll end up with a stomachache.

5. Avoid soda.

You might think that soda helps “settle the stomach”, if you drink lots of it, you’ll lose some much needed “belly space.”

6. Avoid pasta and rolls.

These are carb-rich foods and will cause you to become full a lot faster. These are also among the cheapest buffet items so if you want to get your money’s worth, avoid them.

7. Don’t load up on veggies.

I get it – you want to be as healthy as possible. But the thing is, if you are so conscious about your health, you should just stay away from buffets. Loading up on veggies when you’re in a place like the Golden Corral is just sacrilegious.

8. Take small portions.

If you want to get the most bang for your buck, take small portions of the good stuff – prime rib, lobster, smoked salmon, etc. That way you can sample them all before you’re full.

9. Choose foods you don’t normally eat at home.

Caviar, fresh mangoes, roast duck, prawn curry – you get the idea.

After gorging on all your favorite dishes in a buffet, make sure to drink tea to avoid getting sick. A cup of green tea can speed up digestion and burn fat. You can also drink tea every 2 hours before or after going to a buffet as that helps boost up your metabolism.

Regardless of whether you are having lunch or dinner buffet, don’t starve yourself to prepare for the big meal. The most suitable way to prepare your tummy is to eat a light meal and drink lots of water or tea before heading to a buffet.
